Edgar: We can only fight Magitek enemies with Magitek weapons...
Deadly machinery of a mechanical age trying desperately to win back its magical roots. The Magitek Armour casts fear into the hearts of
all who encounter it, representing a dead age reborn into something extraordinary, terrifying and ultimately artificial.
Magitek technology arises from a process where the magical powers of espers are drained. A thousand years earlier, humans
developed a way to drain espers of their power, in the process creating magical machinery and initiating the War of the Magi.
After the end of the War of the Magi, all magic in the world was gone. Over the years people began to forget it even existed in the first place: magic was the subject
of fable and fantasy, not reality.
But in present times, a project governed by the Gestahlian Empire and headed by a scientist named Cid sought to bring about the revival of magic in the world. Cid didn't
want to use the espers, but Kefka threatened him and he submitted. Cid experimented with captured espers, draining them of their magic and using it to create Magitek.
At the orders of the Emperor, Cid also began experiments on giving humans magical abilities. After many attempts -- and many horrendous failures, such as Kefka, who was driven
insane by a faulty magic infusion process -- Cid found success in Celes Chere.
But Cid was (thankfully) mistaken about how to extract the most power out of espers. If he'd known that the most powerful form of magic derived from an esper is its
Magicite, who knows how powerful his Magitek would be.

The majority of each Magitek Armour's attacks echo the powers of Magicite: magic. Although powerful, they pale in comparison to the real thing.
